Custom Bicycle Builders at February meeting, $100 door prize
The February program meeting was at Yello
w Bike Project's new home at 12th Street and Webberville Road. Our special guests for the evening were James Flatman of Alchemy Bicycle Company; Cody Baron, Clark Davidson and Cole Thompson, co-owners of True Fabrication Bicycles; Brad Cason of KirkLee Bicycles;
Each bikebuilder team sharing how they got their start and what it was like building up their skills to reach that point of selling the first bike to someone. The path for each was different partly due to the fact that they each team works with different materials and had to learn the craft specific to that type of bicycle construction. The builders emphasized that a custom bike often costs the same as a high end production bike and encouraged people to drop in anytime and check out their operations. It a neat twist of fate one of the builders was the raffel winner of the $100 gift certificate. (photo: Gilbert Martinez)
