On Thursday, March 21st, 2013, the Austin Cycling Association's 5th annual 'Chat with the Chief' took place at Bicycle Sport Shop on South Lamar. Please Be Kind to Cyclists was instrumental in organizing this year's meeting.

As a community, cyclists are concerned about the increased number of traffic fatalities, and recent, high-profile cases raise questions about how the legal system functions. For this year’s event, the Austin Cycling Association (ACA) and Please Be Kind to Cyclists assembled a panel of experts to help us understand the process of enforcement and adjudication of traffic offenses. 

The goal is to develop an understanding of the process and to define methods to improve it, for everyone from the officer writing the citation, through to the prosecuting attorney, to the cyclists themselves. Our intent is to begin a discussion of ways in which the community can support and engage with the various agencies as we create change to improve the safety of all roadway users.
